Frequently Asked Questions

We know that choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make. Here are the answers to the questions we're most commonly asked. If you can't find what you're looking for, please get in touch.

How much does The Grove Nursing Home cost?

Prices vary depending on the level of care required, and the type of room that the client chooses. The Grove provides accommodation, 24-hour nursing care, all meals, laundry, heating and electricity, entertainment and activities. The costs vary depending on extra services and the type of room required.

Please contact us for current pricing and to discuss your specific requirements.

My father is aged under 65 and recovering from a stroke - could he go into The Grove?

Although The Grove is predominantly for care of the over 65s there are exceptions. If the person has an age related illness, The Grove is registered to take residents under the age of 65. Please call us on 01282 437788 to discuss your father's specific situation.

Can I transfer my mother from her current care home to The Grove - and will her local authority still pay for her care?

Yes, absolutely. Every individual has the choice of where they want to live and individuals are able to move care homes if they are not happy where they are. Give us a call and we'll always be able to talk you through the process.

What is a top-up?

This is when the local authority agrees to fund the care of the resident but The Grove may cost more than the local authority's contribution, meaning the resident (or their family) is required to pay the difference - known as a "top-up" fee.

How can I find out more, or who can help me?

Please contact The Grove on 01282 437788 or email us at thegrove@waltoncare.co.uk and we'll be able to give more details about costs, arrange a visit and help with any further questions you may have.

What is a FNC (Funded Nursing Care) and how do I apply for it?

In England a contribution is currently £267.68 per week is available to anyone who is assessed as requiring nursing care (including privately funded residents). Residents will need to be assessed and therefore have to contact their GP or health authority.
